Prevent Duty

Span Training and Development Ltd. fully recognises the relevance and importance of protecting our Learners and our role with the young people who are on our programme and are employed in their work placements.
That Learners are guided to understand others, to promote common values, to value diversity, to promote awareness of human rights and of the responsibility to uphold and defend these rights through developing skills of participation and responsible action.
The current threat from Terrorism and Extremism in the United Kingdom is real and severe and can involve the exploitation of vulnerable people, including children and young people. Span has a duty to prevent and respond to any safeguarding concerns for young people who may be vulnerable to the messages of extremism.
Span Training and Development Ltd. recognise that staff who have become involved with young people who need additional support, or appear to have their well-being threatened, could become emotionally involved or upset and may need some support.
Span Training and Development Ltd. will support such staff by providing an opportunity to talk through their anxieties with their Line Manager or the Safeguarding Officer will seek further help as appropriate. An additional resource will be made available on an as needs basis.
